ZENIT HALL Panel Discussion: Tunnel Failures – Causes, Risks, Measures

Are failures just part of tunnel behavior, or do tunnels need more attention?

An overview of common design and construction practices and how their reliability and safety are ensured. Are there still gaps in standard design methods, or in applying current norms and guidelines? What has the industry learned from past failures? What future developments are needed to better manage uncertainties and risks in tunneling?

Representatives from international tunneling communities — including investors, designers, contractors, and insurers — will share their opinions and ideas in short presentations. A moderated discussion will follow between invited experts and the audience, covering technical, organizational, and economic aspects and their roles throughout the project cycle.
